Milan Swim and Dive Splits in close tri meet duals

We hosted Ypsilanti Lincoln and Ann Arbor Greenhills on Thursday and came away with a split. We took the contest with Lincoln, and came up just short against Greenhills. Milan 127 Lincoln 48 Milan 86 Greenhills 94 The meet started with a win in the medley Relay, as Evelyn Gill, Mary Kate Wayne, Sara Mitchell and Kelsie Gillay swam to first. The B relay of Avery Hovatter, Ginny Heikka, Bri Pumfrey and Tori Kimberly took 3rd. Our C relay was Zoie Devine, Delany Didyk, Emma Brown and Lyric Lowry, and all 4 girls swam excellently. The 200 Free was a good event for us, as Cristina Wilson swam her first ever 200 free and did excellent. Kenleigh Vandergrift took 6th, Afton Presley was 5th and Lila McKenna took 2nd with an excellent early season time. The 200 IM was a tight race, as Gill took 2nd, and Mitchell 3rd. Pumfrey has a very nice swim for early season and claimed 8th. In the 50 Free, Devine, Didyk, Ashtyn Bergstrom, Heikka all had season bests, while Kimberly took 3rd and Gillay was runner up in the event. Kaylin Brown took 2nd in diving, and Sky Gallinger keeps improving in the her diving each time out. In the 100 F ly Pumfrey ha another season best, while Afton presley had a lifetime best to take 3rd, and Wayne was just barely off the state cut and took 2nd. The 100 free saw great swims across the board. Wilson, and Heikka both had best swims, as did Ashtyn Bersgtrom to take 5th, Vandergift to take 4th and Hovatter who was 3rd. The 500 was a 1,2 for Milan as Gill took the win and McKenna made the state cut to take 2nd. The 200 Free Relay Didyk, Lowry, Wilson, and Gallinger all swam well on the C, while the B relay of Ashtyn Bergstrom, Vandergrift, Heikka and Kimberly took 3rd and Mithcell, Gilay, Mckenna nd Presley were runners up. In the 100 Back, Mitchell was runner up, while Hovatter took 4th and Emma Brown was 9th. The 100 Breast was a huge event for us, as Mary Kate Wayne claimed the win with a blistering 1:09.7, Gillay was 3rd and Kimberly 5th. Devine swam her first ever 100 breast and shined. In the 400 Relay, the team of Presley, Gill, Wayne and McKenna took 2nd, the B relay of Vandergrift, Bersgtrom, Pumfrey and Hovatter took 5th. ~ Coach Heikka Photo Credit: Thank you to Stephen Cook!
